A company with roots in San Jose celebrated its return to the city and the inauguration of its headquarters in a newly restored building at 1995 The Alameda. Situated just south of I-880 on one of San Jose’s most historic thoroughfares, the multi-story facility demonstrates the privately held construction company’s commitment to sustainable design focused on employee satisfaction and productivity.

Presiding over the ribbon-cutting were Mayor Sam Liccardo and svo President Matt Mahood. Both praised Iron Construction’s co-founders Claudia Folzman (COO) and Dave Edgar (President) for their business and personal contributions to San Jose.

“We are delighted to welcome you back to San Jose,” Mayor Liccardo said, noting that this specific neighborhood was near to his heart: for four decades, his father worked across the street at Toeniskoetter Construction.

Founded in 2001, specializing in commercial interiors for life science and manufacturing customers, Iron Construction started with a few people working out of a home garage. The company soon leased a space on Lincoln Avenue in Willow Glen and then larger space in North San Jose. The company purchased its first building in Sunnyvale, before returning to San José with the purchase of 1008 Lincoln Ave., 1961 The Alameda and building out its latest acquisition of 1955 The Alameda. The company now employs a staff of more than 50. “Moving from the Sunnyvale location to San Jose has improved the quality of life for our employees and brought us closer to our clients and industry partners,” Claudia said. “We wanted to build a headquarters that showcased our capabilities with design, innovation, sustainability and a place where employees could feel ‘at home’ but still be productive.”
Judging by the pack of friendly pooches that welcomed guests when the front doors opened, mission accomplished!
